Party Time

Well, the cat is officially out of the bag. I debated long and hard about how to surprise Lyn for her 30th birthday. Since she was born in the late 70s I figured the obvious course of action was to throw a Disco Skate Party. So that's what we're going to do. Now, the difficulty is how to surprise her. I think most ladies will back me up on this: if there's a costume party, you want to know ahead of time so you can get appropriately dressed. That means that this post IS the surprise. I'm hoping Lyn will check this site randomly in the next few hours and see that there's a throng of people getting disco-fied in her honor. As much as I dislike PDA, Happy Birthday Lynners. I've got $20 bucks in case you need to do some last minute thrift store shopping :)

On Apple

Remember when I said this clip would be famous someday? Well, this little-clip-that-could has hit the big time already. You can see this clip, more clips from Rwanda, some ski footage, some ants, a bee, and a random shot of Scotch on Apple's website. I've been submitting footage to Mammoth HD (a stock footage company) and their latest demo reel is now featured on Apple's HD content page. My footage, along with some amazing footage from 8 other cinematographers, is now featured to the left of the Steve Miller Band and above Blue Man Group. Neato. Kudos to Trev who shot the cute kids in rags. Here's the link:

I've got a hard drive full of waterfall clips that look like this. Anyone wanna buy a screen saver? UPDATE: Just added another clip.

Canada, Can We Still Be Friends?

The short and glossy version is: we didn't have all the correct paperwork for entering Canada as workers. So... they sent us back. No, really, we were sent back at the border. Instead of sky diving and sailing, we got interrogated and deported. But, on the bright side, we got to see family in Portland, and eat at Thai Orchid. So it's all good. On to the next adventure.

Oh...Canada.

Last week I was chatting on the phone with friend and Corporate Communications Manager, Kelly about a potential project. This week we're packing the gear and heading north. Wow that happened quick. Going to be shooting a corporate branding video for Teldon Media Group. It's pretty much going to be the best corporate video ever complete with ice skating, sailing, and sky diving. Yes, sky diving. I know what you're thinking and the answer is, "no." Red stays in the plane. Should be a lot of fun. We'll keep you posted.

Set Sail

A few weeks ago Lyn was hired as a Production Coordinator for a fashion shoot for Nautica. She spent three days chumming with the models at the Sundial Bridge here in Redding. Says Lyn, "It was actually a lot of hard work, but worth it. I mean how often do you get the opportunity to use the words 'male model' in everyday conversation?" It was a whirl-wind of car-rentals, walkie-talkies, call-sheets, crowd-control, and other incorrectly hyphenated words. Those crazy New Yorkers even launched a sailboat in the river as a prop. Silly kids. The photographer was Anders Overgaard from Denmark. He brought a slew of medium format cameras with him. I was peanut butter and jealous that I couldn't be there. Way to go Lyn! Rockin' the fashion world. Here's a shot of me and Lyn standing in for Anders.
